Annmarie talks about her background
What is Functional Medicine?
Functional medicine is a holistic approach to patient care, and Annmarie McManus, MMSc, PA-C, PT, IFMCP is certified by the Institute of Functional Medicine as a member of one of the first certifying classes. While traditional medicine focuses on a disease diagnosis as the end state, functional medicine finds underlying causes for those diseases. For example, a conventional provider may jump to write a pain prescription, whereas a functional medicine practitioner looks for the underlying causes of dysfunction–including inflammation, alignment, others–and takes extra time to listen to you, assess you neurologically, order specialty metabolic and nutritional lab work, etc.
Are you a candidate for Functional Medicine? Ask yourself the following questions:
Does the problem keeps coming back again and again?
Are you suffering from hormonal imbalance?
Weary of chronic joint pains and body aches?
Gaining weight, especially at the tummy? Hair falling out?
Mood unpredictable, tense, then irritable, even sad?
Is your body hurting all over?
