What Is Specialty Testing?
Specialty testing looks deeper than standard blood work. These labs assess function—not just disease—and often include:
- Gut microbiome analysis (e.g. GI-MAP, Genova Diagnostics)
- Hormone and adrenal testing (e.g. DUTCH, saliva, urine)

Testing Process Overview
We prepare for and collaborate in advance of your appointment. Please complete blood work at least 2 full weeks before your appointment.
What to Know
- Accessing Results: Lab orders and test results are available in the Power2Patient portal under the Documents tab.
- Test Kits: Most test kits are shipped directly to your home. Some are available in our office, depending on the type of test ordered.
- Blood Draws: We do not draw blood in-office, but we'll help you find a convenient local lab or blood draw location.
- Insurance Coverage: Testing costs are separate from appointment fees. We are unable to provide out-of-pocket estimates or coverage details for LabCorp or Quest Diagnostics—please check with your insurance provider for specific coverage.
- We Go the Extra Mile: If you're unexpectedly billed for insurance-reimbursed labs, let us know. When appropriate, we'll review and provide additional medically appropriate diagnosis codes that may help improve your insurance coverage - always within ethical standards.
Testing Costs & Value
- Cost Range: Out-of-pocket costs vary widely—from $0 to over $1,000—depending on the complexity and specialty of the test.
- Personalized Recommendations: Your provider will recommend testing based on your health goals during your initial visit. All testing is optional and tailored to your specific needs.
- Quality Matters: We prioritize tests that offer real answers, not just data. While some specialty labs are more expensive, they provide greater accuracy and insight. We work to ensure you're getting the most value for your investment.
