Clarity Starts with the Right Questions

We’ve gathered the most common questions our patients ask—so you can feel informed, empowered, and ready to take the next step in your care with confidence.

The PIM Approach

Focuses on the philosophy of the practice and what makes it unique.
What is integrative and functional medicine?

Integrative and functional medicine combine the best of conventional medical science with holistic, root-cause approaches. At Philadelphia Integrative Medicine, we look beyond symptoms to understand how your genetics, lifestyle, environment, and emotional health contribute to your overall well-being.

Our visits are longer, more personalized, and collaborative. You’ll meet with board-certified providers who take the time to truly listen, explore your story, and develop a care plan tailored to your unique biology—not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
We see patients with a wide range of concerns—from autoimmune conditions and gut health to hormone imbalances, chronic fatigue, and perimenopause. Whether you’re managing symptoms or optimizing long-term wellness, our team can help.
All of our integrative practitioners are considered specialists and are well versed in primary care concerns, however, we cannot act as your primary care doctor. We work in partnership with your primary care physician. We recommend all of our patients have a primary care physician for referrals and emergencies.

Getting Started & Appointments

Focuses on the onboarding process and what to expect as a new patient.

What is the best way to get started?

We offer a 20 minute optional complimentary consultation where we can meet and discern your next step to greater health and wellbeing. Please note that our providers won’t review your records or give medical advice until your New Patient Appointment. We treat patients ages 11 years old and up.

Your first visit is a deep dive into your health history, current symptoms, and life context. We may order specialty labs and begin building a treatment plan with you. You’ll leave feeling heard, supported, and clear on next steps.

Every treatment plan is unique. Your provider will let you know how often to schedule appointments. On average, most patients come in for an appointment every 6 weeks.

In order for a patient to get the most out of their visit, PIM asks that all patients who have not been seen in over a year schedule an Extended Follow Up Appointment. A lot of changes occur in a year, and an hour long follow up ensures your treatment plan will be fully updated and allows us to give you the best care.

We are not able to order testing before your New Patient Appointment. You are not yet considered a patient of PIM. When preparing for your New Patient Appointment, our providers review your intake forms and any records you send. Once you are at your appointment, your provider will perform a full history and physical exam. It is not until this time that your practitioner has all of the information she needs to provide diagnosis codes that are required to order testing. We offer a custom-tailored approach for each patient, including choosing the best testing based on history, physical and all available data.

Out of respect for our patients’ and practitioners’ time, please note that we require 72 hours (3 days) notice for ALL appointment cancellations/reschedules. If you do not provide this notice, you will be charged:

  • A $300 cancellation fee for a New Patient Appointment*

  • A $100 cancellation fee for a Follow Up Appointment

  • A $200 cancellation fee for an Extended Follow Up Appointment

*Note: If you provide at least 72 hours (3 days) notice, your deposit will be applied to your rescheduled appointment or refunded (upon request only). A $25 processing fee applies to all refunded deposits.

We offer individual appointments or an appointment package. Please see our pricing page for more information including pricing and appointment lengths.

Your PIM provider may recommend personalized testing and supplements during your initial and follow-up visits. Costs vary based on your health goals. Testing fees are separate from appointment fees. On average, patients spend around $150/month on supplements, though this may be higher initially and decrease as you progress.

Insurance, Billing & Logistics

Focuses on the “how-to” of insurance reimbursement, records, and ongoing care.
Why Do We Not Accept Insurance?

Many people who have contacted our office for services have asked us why we do not bill insurance directly. We understand the financial challenge this presents to some patients, and we wish there was a way for us to bill your insurance company. Unfortunately, at this time, there is not.

Did you know, the average insurance-covered visit with a physician is ONLY 7 minutes!

Insurance companies are more focused on the conventional model of health that too often relies on drugs and surgery as opposed to preventative and wellness services. Also, when clinics bill health insurance companies directly, the doctors must sign a contract that allows the insurance company to determine which services they will and will not provide and how much they can charge for those services.

A participating provider must agree to accept the fees the insurance company establishes, regardless of whether the fees are reasonable or applicable to that practice.

Most doctors and clinics cope with the requirements and costs of being participating providers by keeping their office visits very brief, so that they can see many patients within a given time frame. Unfortunately, we have found that we cannot be “within network” and provide time-intensive, well-researched and expert care.

PIM is an out of network provider. If your policy provides out-of- network coverage, we will provide you with a coded receipt to submit for reimbursement.

Note: Because each insurance policy is unique, we encourage you to call your insurer to inquire about reimbursement– please find the list of appointment codes below. You do not need to have an appointment scheduled to check your reimbursement rate.

Appointment Codes

PIM is an out-of-network provider, and payment is due in full at the time of your appointment. You will receive an itemized sales receipt by email for your records; however, this is not used for insurance reimbursement. A coded receipt—called an Invoice Fulfillment (Superbill) – will be uploaded to your Power2Patient portal under Documents and includes CPT codes, ICD-10 diagnosis codes, and PIM’s Tax ID for submission to your insurer. If your plan offers out-of-network benefits, reimbursement is typically issued to you by mail. Because coverage varies by policy, we recommend contacting your insurer in advance using the appointment codes below; no appointment is required to verify benefits, and phone and video visits are eligible for submission.
  • Does my plan provide any out-of-network coverage?
If so: How many visits are covered during my benefit period? When did my benefit period start? When does it end?
  • What is my deductible?
  • What is my reimbursement rate for a new patient appointment?
  • What is my reimbursement rate for a follow up appointment ? (see appointment codes below)
  • Are specific diagnosis codes needed in order for these services to be covered? If so, what are they?
  • Do I need a referral for these services? (please note it is your responsibility to receive any referrals prior to your first appointment)
Medicare/Medicaid patients are not able to receive reimbursement for PIM appointments. When Medicare or Medicaid patients receive Medicare/Medicaid covered services, providers are legally obligated to bill according to the government’s time frame and specifications. We are not only not able to comply with these billing practices – but we intentionally design our practice so that we can spend time with you, hear you and not rush you out of the office.

We are aware that some patients receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from their insurance company and this resembles a bill or notes that you (the patient) may be responsible for a certain amount and this can be alarming. Rest assured that an EOB is NOT a bill. We are able to provide upfront amounts for all specialty testing in order to avoid surprise bills.

LabCorp and Quest testing costs vary depending on your coverage and we always suggest calling your insurance company to inquire about costs before completing your test.

Please wait until you receive a bill. If you do receive an unexpected bill from a testing company, please always email a copy of the bill to info@philly-im.com and we are happy to do everything we can to possible reduce or eliminate the bill for you.

In order to provide you with the best care possible and ensure security, we require use of our free online medical portal to all patients. Power2Patient or P2P is where you will access visit notes from your provider including vitamin and supplement instruction, receipts for insurance reimbursement, lab orders, and send messages to the PIM team.

Records can be sent via portal message, email, or fax.

  1. Message them to Michelle Kosvitch in the P2P Portal

    • Click Messages on left side of screen

    • Click Attach PDF*

    • You can add five pdf attachments per message. Include text in the message box in order for message to send.

*For the portal to function correctly, you must be on a computer and using Chrome, Edge, or Safari as your browser. Documents must be in PDF format. Click here for directions on saving a Document in PDF format.

  2. Email your records in PDF format to info@philly-im.com.

  3. Fax them to 610-982-8927.

Once your records are received, they will be available to view in the Documents section of your P2P portal. We will notify your provider. If you do not see records in the Documents section of your portal, it means we did not receive them.

PIM has an in office and online supplement dispensary with trusted brands and formulations handpicked by your PIM providers. We recommend our clinic supplements and online supplement store because we feel they are the safest and most effective products. We strive to keep our costs as low as possible, however, all prices are dictated by the supplement companies themselves. You can access our online dispensary at:

PIM Store

We do receive a compensation from the time spent selecting, stocking and maintaining our in office and/or online store. You are not required to purchase supplements from PIM. You are free to search for viable options elsewhere. Our in-office and online store are provided as a convenience for patients to easily find what has been recommended from a trusted source that offers fast shipping and exceptional customer service.
