Roasted Butternut Squash with Chimichurri Sauce
The holidays can be a time of excess.
The rich food, the great wines, that special bottle of something from a client as a thank you. Do you become overwhelmed and say, βIt's too much, I will deal with this after the holidays?β Does it have to be all or none? How about a special gift to yourself? A gift that is carefully chosen. A gift that says I love you and I am caring for you. A gift that is nourishing. Rather than skipping lunch so you can eat all you want at the party, eat a lovely, colorful salad and drink extra water and a cup of green tea. When presented with a loaded buffet table or a beautiful variety of desserts, take a few moments in a quiet place and thank your body for all that it has done for you to carry you through this year. Breath in gentleness. Know that all of the food is available, but maybe not all is nourishing for you right now. Think about what you would like to eat and drink. What would you like to give your body?
Just a few moments of gratitude prepares the body to digest the food it will be receiving. Savor every bite that you take. Leave something on your plate at the end of the meal. Have a small sample of dessert. Drink sparkling water with a squeeze of lime or orange between glasses of wine or alcohol. If you are bringing food to a dinner, you might want to try this colorful, nourishing Roasted Butternut Squash with Chimichurri Sauce. Think about what you are wanting for yourself. At Philadelphia Integrative Medicine, we offer joy, peace, and great health in this holiday season. We are here to partner with you.
