Exercise : Even 1 minute of it is beneficial to health
As a busy working mom, I am often discouraged at the thought of fitting exercise into my already jam packed schedule. This can be frustrating, especially since I am well aware of the vast physical and mental benefits of moving. Luckily a newly published study gives this tired mama hope! Researchers from McMaster University in Canada found that 1 minute of intense training may have similar health benefits as 45 minutes of moderate exercise. The study compared short bursts of intense exercise called sprint interval training to moderate-intensity continuous training lasting 50 minutes per session. They looked at the effect of both forms of training on cardio-metabolic health indicators like insulin sensitivity and found similar improvement in health markers despite a large difference in time commitment.
Lack of time is no longer an excuse for not exercising- get out and move today!
